The Christian Alternative
to Chemical Dependency:
GOD -Dependency!
October 13, 2012

As promised, I wanted to give you an update concerning what the Lord is doing here in Florida. Our model for The Most Excellent Way,  "Inside Prison" is up and running at Gulf Corrections Institution.  We have laid the ground work and the meetings are moving along as planned. These meetings are completely inmate facilitated with all of the structure of an MEW meeting. The Florida Department of Corrections has given us the green light to continue training in other institutions making The Most Excellent Way a legitimate faith-based component for substance abuse within the department.

The E5 Evangelism Strategy that I have developed especially for prison environments is alive and well at Gulf C.I. This too is now being facilitated by Peer Inmate Facilitators who have trained 175+ inmates to share their faith within the prison environment. This material has also been translated in Spanish and we are seeing a great number of men trained in the Spanish E5 class as well.

On November 3rd we will take a team of musicians to another institution where we facilitate MEW meetings to have a concert on the rec yard where we will be able to share the gospel with much of the inmate population. This concert is a result of faithful ministry under the umbrella of The Most Excellent Way and we expect the Lord to do great things.

Our meetings here at First Baptist Church, Panama City, are going very well.   The challenges are sometimes as great as the blessings, but anything the Lord has purposed us to do will never come easy all the time.

So far this year we have seen 475 people trust the Lord as Savior!  We never take that for granted and we are always humbled by His work in the lives of people.  He gets the glory because He alone deserves it!
                                                                                           God bless,

We have successfully launched our new strategy in Gulf Corrections Institution in Gulf County, Florida. Our strategy was to train inmates to facilitate The Most Excellent Way meetings inside prison. These meetings are up and running at Gulf C.I. and we have since began to duplicate the strategy in surrounding institutions. We currently have a number of institutions that are waiting for The Most Excellent Way to begin in their facility.

We are blessed to have the support and invitation of the leadership of the Florida Dept. of Corrections to begin new meetings in various institutions for a faith-based strategy for alcohol and substance abuse.

We have also began a service for the Hispanic population in one particular institution with the intent of beginning MEW meetings for that segment of the inmate population.

This past year we were blessed to see 577 people trust Jesus Christ as their Savior in the various environments of The Most Excellent Way here in Panama City, Florida and the surrounding areas.

To God be the glory, great things He has done!!!!

PRAYER ALERT!  ~  February 16, 2013

Here's a kicker. I just got a call from an inmate in the Missoula, MT, county jail. He can no longer receive letters that contain anything to do with God. No scripture can be written and no references to God are allowed. They have been withholding my mail (throwing it away and not sending it back), and the same treatment for another pastor who has been writing to the same inmate.

He has filed a grievance but they tell him he's not allowed to file against anything they make a decision on. They say the only way I can write a letter to an inmate is to get special permission, but they don't have any such rule or means to grant such alleged permission. I have never been notified of such a ruling. They do allow inmates to receive religious materials if its any other religion than Christian. They also allow inmates to receive pictures of half naked women. But Christian references in the mail is now considered a security threat.

I have no intention of being silent on this one. I will fight for basic freedom of speech and my, and the inmate's, right of freedom of religion.  Stay tuned to FOX News.

We have a start date for The Most Excellent Way meetings to begin at Jackson Corrections Institution. On Saturday, March 9th, I will introduce TMEW to the inmates in a large group gathering. Following that meeting we will begin weekly meetings on Thursday, March 21st. I will facilitate the first ten meetings while training two "Inmate Peer Facilitators" to facilitate the weekly meetings after the ten weeks. We hope to have them up and running on their own soon after the ten weeks and we will, Lord willing, move on to the next institution to do the same.

Please pray with us for a great host of men on March 9th so the Lord can make a great impact leading up to our first meeting.

Work while it is day ... Rick McClung
